Library Rules of Conduct/Behavior Policy


Lansdale Public Library respects the rights of all of our library patrons. The following rules of conduct are intended to preserve the library as a safe and pleasant community gathering place.
  • Please be responsible for yourself and your belongings and respectful of others and the library's property.
  • Any activity prohibited by law is not permitted in the library. Violence, use of drugs, theft, and vandalism will not be tolerated.
  • Parents/guardians may not leave children under 10 unattended.
  • No harassing or annoying other patrons (includes, but is not limited to: spinning on chairs, throwing paper, talking loudly & running)

Materials borrowing policy

  • A maximum of 12 items may be checked out at a time.
  • A maximum of 4 videos and 4 audiobooks may be checked out at a time.
  • Books and audiobooks are checked out for 2 weeks.
  • Videos and DVDs are checked out for 1 week.

Accumulating fees

Patron accounts (material borrowing and computer use) will be blocked if:
  • The patron reaches the maximum fine for overdue materials.
  • The patron has an outstanding fine for lost or damaged materials.
Accounts will be unblocked when the fine is paid.

If the patron does not respond to the overdue notices, phone calls, or the final bill, a civil complaint will be filed with the local magistrate.

Renewal policy

  • Each item may be renewed twice.
  • Items with rental fees can be renewed without incurring additional fees.
  • If a hold has been placed on an item, it cannot be renewed.
Materials may be renewed online, by telephone, or in person at the library.

Internet/Computer rules and use

Library computer rules

  • One computer per library card
  • No using another patron's login information
  • Maximum of people to a computer: 3
  • Maximum use: 1 hour when patrons are waiting
  • No installing software
  • No pornographic images or text may be viewed
  • Children under age 13 may not use computers without parent or guardian
Library privileges may be suspended for violations of these rules.

Lynn Janoff Community Room

Introduction: The Lansdale Public Library makes available meeting room space for library programs and other meetings and programs of informational, educational, cultural, and civic nature. The library meeting room space will be available for use by outside individuals, business, and organizations when the library is open and the space is not needed for library programs or library-related activities and when the use of the space does not interfere with or disrupt normal operations of the library or cause a security risk or safety hazard to the library staff, customers, or property. Lansdale Library provides meeting room space as a public service but does not endorse the views or opinions of the groups utilizing the space. Advertisements or announcements implying such endorsments are prohibited. click here to download the full policy, and rules for the room.

Other Meeting Spaces

In addition to the Lynn Janoff Community room, the library is happy to make two other locations available for reservations. A smaller meeting room and another location right outside, in front of the library. If you are interested in reserving a location, please email reservations@lansdalelibrary.org
